I’ve never been much of a morning person and am usually miserable having to wake up when it’s still dark outside. On the occasions I’m fortunate enough to catch some of the nice light that accompanies those early hours, I wonder why I don’t do it more often. For Easter Sunday, I attended a sunrise service at Fort Rock, a national landmark in Central Oregon. The service has been held every Easter since roughly the 1940s, according to a few in attendance. A bonfire provided warmth for the group celebrating the morning with song, prayer, and moments of reflection.
