The frigid mid-December temperatures weren’t enough to slow down athletes competing in national events here in Central Oregon. With snow piling up, cyclocross riders from all over descended on the Old Mill in Bend for the Deschutes Cup races. I layered up like an Arctic explorer and photographed the men’s and women’s elite races . Temperatures hovered around zero and likely below with the windchill. Some pretty epic frost beards…Also this month was the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships. A slightly warmer day on a grueling course with hills, snow, and hay bales to hurdle.
