Demolition derbies are definitely among my favorite things to photograph. I guess I like watching people create Frankenstein monsters of cars, then crash them into each other until they’re smoking and unable to continue. After towing the wounded vehicles off, drivers and friends weld and beat the crap out of these steel bodies until they’re ready to go out and wreck havoc again. Throw in some usually great evening light, a cast of interesting characters, some mud, and a county fair crowd and you’ve got endless opportunities.
