Cancelled

Daily life around the world has been vastly altered these past few months due to the growing pandemic. We’ve been told to stay home, work from home, and socially distance ourselves from others. Events and gatherings of all sizes are either cancelled or rescheduled in most places, leading to some unprecedented situations we’re all still trying to figure out.

Easter, a holiday normally celebrated through religious services and egg hunts, became an online-observed event. For the past several years, I’ve attended and photographed the long-standing annual sunrise service at Fort Rock State Park. The gathering of mostly residents from several small, rural communities scattered throughout miles of Central Oregon high desert has been held every year at least since WWII, according to locals. This year marked an end to that streak – I saw on the website for the community church that helps put on the event that it would not take place.

I realized I had not shared any photos from last year’s service, and with a new-found abundance of free time, I thought I’d revive this blog. It’s been a while since I’ve updated and posted photographs from the past year, and now seems like a good time to catch up and go back through a time of big changes in my life and work.
